The Association of the Abbatiale de Payerne (ASAP) presents an exciting 2025 season focused on the theme of archaeology. After exploring the architecture, art collections, and history of the site, ASAP brings the archaeological richness of the place to light through several events, including two major temporary exhibitions. Discover this year an exciting exploration of Payerne’s past and the excavations that shaped our understanding of its history.
March 21 – June 22, 2025
Exhibition “A Glimpse of the Collections: Objects Unearthed, Objects Unveiled”
Complementing the discovery journey, this exhibition invites you to explore the museum’s archaeological collection, featuring objects discovered in Payerne, Yverdon, and other sites. The focus will be on the process of unearthing archaeological objects and their acquisition, revealing crucial information about their historical context and use. A unique opportunity to dive into the fascinating world of archaeological excavations.

July 4 – August 10, 2025
The Monk’s Garden
The fourth edition of the Monk’s Garden will take place in the former cloister’s courtyard, offering a green and peaceful break at the heart of the Abbatiale. This ephemeral garden invites relaxation and the discovery of aromatic and medicinal plants, while also allowing an exploration of their historical uses. Musical performances will highlight ancient music, enriching your visit with a unique sound experience.
September 5, 2025 – February 22, 2026
Exhibition “Louis Bosset (1880-1950): From Compass to Trowel”
This major autumn exhibition will trace the journey of Louis Bosset, a Payerne architect and archaeologist. From his career in architecture to his role in the excavations and restoration of the Abbatiale de Payerne, discover his influence on the site. The exhibition will showcase historical photographs compared to the current state of the Abbatiale, offering an immersive “before/after” experience. City tours will allow visitors to discover Bosset’s impact on local urban planning.

Music Program
The musical season of the Association des Concerts de Payerne (AsCoP) will feature exceptional events:
- April 18, 2025: “A Passion According to St. John” by Johann Sebastian Bach, the second stage of the ambitious project to recreate Bach’s 26 Passions.
- May 25, 2025: Haydn-Mozart concert in collaboration with the CantaSense vocal ensemble.
- June 15 and 29, 2025: The famous “Concerts de la Lumière”, sunrise concerts celebrating the solstice in the magical atmosphere of the Abbatiale.
- Additional musical surprises are also planned for the fall, including a choral concert at the end of the year.
The organ concerts, held every first Saturday of the month at 6:15 PM, will also take place in the Abbatiale or Paroissiale.
