A jewel of roman art, the Abbey Church was decorated with several wall paintings, the oldest of which is the located in the narthex and was created around 1200. From the 14th century onwards, the many chapels were transformed, reorganized, and decorated, often at the instigation of the priors. These actions introduced the gothic style into an otherwise roman church.
